Berryessa with Earl the Pearl 7/31/10

Today I was honored to take my dad aka Earl the Pearl out fishing at Berryessa. We launched a Capel and had our four lines down about 5:50am. Pop drew first blood with a scrapy 14" kokanee at 50' on a UL blue tiger spinner with a Seps WM dodger. I followed that up a few minutes later with a 18" King at 45' on a blue RGT and a Vances WM dodger. I was surprised to catch a King so shallow with the surface temp in the mid 70s.

We had 6 kokes at 9am with a couple of nice 17" kokes in the box. Around 10am I had a major problem, I tried to start my main motor and my batteries were too low. Thanks to Kokeanut, for the jump start that got me back in the game ( lost about an hour of fishing time). We picked up two more kokes before we called it for the day around 12:30pm. One of the two was our best of the day, a nice 18.25" that hit a blue tiger UL spinner/blue RGT compo with a HP RMT dodger at 66'.

We talked many other fishermen that had 0-2 fish. We trolled between the BI and the East bank most of the time. Radio was very quiet all day. Our best depths were from 55-66' and we ended up with 7 kokes to 18.25" and one 18" King. It was great getting back out with my dad, he is almost 81 and still going strong.
