this pic doesnt do it justice, i would guess him to be about 2lbs. That tacklebox is about 14-15".

Very nice fish, that thing is a monster.  Do Redears typically get bigger than the other species?  We fish a local lake up here for panfish and the big ones we've caught were always redears.

Yes, the can get substantially larger. I think the CA state record is 4-5 lbs.
