Fishing the North Fork of the Yuba

By: Alan Nealley (Fats)       July 21, 2010

Living in Sonoma County, my wife and I are used to traveling for good trout fishing during the summertime. With her work schedule, this can be difficult to pull off. We have a guideline that the fishing time to windshield time ratio needs to be larger than one in order to go on a fishing trip. Elaine does not enjoy single day trips, especially if they involve mountain roads.  Sometimes this makes getting quality fishing tough!

Thanks for this article Fats. This is a very good narrative on the river in that area. Makes me feel that I'm there and the pictures are wonderful. Even managed to teach me something. Roll Eyes

Next time I'm heading up... I'll give you a shout-out.  Bill Kiene just posted a report that the river has come fully into shape and is fishing well right now.  I guess they've been having some really outrageous evenings fishing dry flies.
