Has anyone been to the Feather and observed any salmon?
Are there fish by or in the hatchery? The opener is coming and just looking for some positive signs.

A friend & I were on the Feather sat & talked with DFG doing surveys. They said returns were "o.k". whatever that means.

i  was at the hatchery July 3rd. i know it was a few weeks ago, no fish in the glass and i was scuba diving in the river and never saw one salmon while  diving two tanks. Hopefully  there are more now because i want to give it a try next week.

There are LOTS of salmon in the river now. Check out the you tube videos posted from last weekend. The hatchery is closed, but fish are seen jumping all over below the wier at the ladder going into the hatchery. I spoke to a F&G rep today at the Feather River Wildlife Area, he said their is a lot of water and fish throughout the river. I will be fishing opening day and posting a report. Best of luck to everyone on the water.

Where's the reports? I just got home expecting to see a couple good reports. Tight lipped because the fishing is on fire?...I hope. I'll be patiently awaiting some news tonight...

Not much in the way of reports.  More likely it sucked.

OK guys, I fished both days with three clients and here is the report. On Sat. I fished the early morning just above the first lower rapid and we hooked and lost one there. 10-12lber. Moved up river just above the osprey hole and hooked two on kwik fish and lost both, one leader broke under the boat and the other got wrapped around a branch in the water which we couldn't get back and around fast enough so the fish pulled free. I spoke to the F&G fish counters and they told me out of all the boats, close to 75 or more, 7 fish were landed by 11 am. My boat would have increased that number by 30% if we would have landed them. Crap. Lost of people fished from the bank in several different places with zero luck is what I heard. We cruised up to the outlet and saw a few still breaking the law, under the lie that they were fishing for stripers and steelhead. The warden's gave them a one time warning, not sure about what went on Sunday there but I would bet some citations were written. Just not enough fish.
