Eh... Sonoma again....

Well went out to Sonoma Sunday night. Took a friend who's never landed a fish in his life so I casted out my poles and told him we would take turns reeling them in, him first. Line was probably in the water around 8, and he had the first fish of his life about 9. I was busy making sure my Tecate found its way to my stomach when he asked me if one of the poles should be bouncing. It was my "experiment cast" of the night, I had casted it into water about 2 feet deep at most. I grabbed it and set the hook, instantly the cat was splashing around, handed the pole to my bud and he managed to work it around the trees and get it in.

I know it looks bad but it was a circle hook that got him in the side of the mouth. I think the braid cut the side of his mouth and caused him to bleed so much, he wasn't hooked deep and he swam away fine.

14 lb cat, anyways that was the only thing worth taking a pic of that night. I told my friend not to expect a 10+ everytime :p I still haven't been able to dial in on them like I did previous years getting several 10+ per trip. Oh well, I think I'm getting closer.

My daughter just moved by Sonoma. She goes jet skiing there alot now. How is the fishing. Looks like I might need to go check it out!

Last 2 trips I've also caught countless bluegill/redears/occasional crappie but nothing picworthy. If you're in the area let me know, you'll have a guide

Thanks for the tip and offer. My daughter was there today jet skiing. She wanted me to come but I was worried about the traffic coming back over the bridge. She told me there was always people fishing there. I guess it is a lake I need to explore!

There are people fishing but the shore access is super limited, 99% the lake you'd need a quad and rock climbing gear to access. So if you have a boat bring it! It actually wasn't so bad today in the morning, yesterday when we were heading to my boat in the marina we saw some lake lice fighting though. Always interesting on Labor Day.

I will have to check it out...I know my daughter is part of the lake lice.
