Delta boat docks 9/2

I got out today and fished an area I wasn't familiar with. Worked the jig and the plastics and didn't do too bad with 1lbers and one catfish.

Took a break to figure out what the heck I was going to do. Ate lunch and spoke with a local guy at a dock. He pointed out something that I really didn't give much thought to since I haven't done it in a while. DOCKS!!! Go figure!!! Nice and cool. What fish wouldn't want to chill there. Grin

Rigged up a dropshot and a Texas-rigged baby brushhawg. Thanks to this old man, I had a very decent day. I worked about 4-5 docks that I knew of (picked up on the pattern thanks to ???) Cool

Worked the dropshot first and landed 2lber after 2lber. Decided to drag a brushhawg underneath the docks. Every now and then, pausing to maybe get their attention. Very slow process but produced. Landed a healthy 4.8lber with a $#%&*-load of tiny leeches in his mouth. Yuck!!! I didn't even want my hook back! Roll Eyes

After a bit, I decided to pull out an Aaron Martens scrounger head. Added some flash to it and worked the outside edges of the docks. To my surprise, a freakin' striper, out of nowhere, just about demolished it. I layed my foot off the trolling motor and sat there in shock. I was holding one of the poles on the dock waiting to see if I could see anything. Low and behold, stripers were killing baitfish all under the docks!!! HOLY #$%&*!!!!!!! No boils, but a lot of action near the docks. Wow! Something to see. Geeeez, a sign the stripers are coming in early??? Roll Eyes

Heading back, I stopped at the dock where I met the guy who gave me the tip. Thanked him and bought him a beer. That beer tasted good! I told him about the stripers and he looked at me like, "Nah, REALLY?" He knew they were there. I tell ya, these old-timers know their stuff.

Another plus to docks....nice and cool for you too. Cool

I'm too tired to post pics tonight. Will try tomorrow. Cool

Stopped at the Stockton port about 15 mins ago. They are nailing the stripers there. One guy had two that were right around 6lbs each. I guess they are coming in. Cool

Makes me wish I knew someone had a boat and wanted some fishing company .
