Fished a dock in Disco bay in the mornings and evenings Tue even/Wed/Thurs morn. I tried plastics initially but was getting nothing so I actually used my brain instead of my usual senko, senko, senko, dropshot routine for once (which I tried to no avail).
Morning bait (while lmb/stripers were breaking the surface chasing baitfish):
1. floating brokeback rapala in trout pattern.
2. stickbait with a black back and less shiny golden/mustard sides.
Morning (post-breaking):
Rat-L-Trap in shad with a red lower head.
Evening (before the sun went down):
Spinnerbait in chartreuse and black
Evening (after the sun went down):
Back to the broke-back rapala, luckycraft $15 stickbait that snagged and I lost on first cast.
I was catching the most fish in the mornings, a few each on the rapala and stickbait, but once the lmb/stripers stopped busting they were NAILING the Rat-L-Trap. I had about 10-15 hits and landed 5 fish on the Trap. I lost what would have been my personal best when it jumped out of the water to show me it's 7-10lb body then dove into the weeds, got hung up, then got lost

. But it was the biggest LMB I'd ever hooked up with and this trip was the first time I've really built confidence in fishing anything other than plastics. All in all a good trip considering most days I was busy being water lice with my company.
