Tried a new area to launch today - Herman and Helens on Potato Slough and fished that area and Whites Slough from 0645 to 1500 hrs today. Started at the bottom of the tide with a nice 2 1/2 lb'r followed by a few dinks and some 12 to 13 inchers. Mid morning, as the tide was starting in, I hooked a beaut, fought her to the boat and got her aboard. Took a photo but then could not find my scale so after 3 or 4 minutes out of the water, I released her, not thinking to take a measurement. I am thinking in the 7 lb range and my partner thinks more like 8 lbs. Who knows? Later in the day, on the outgo, I caught another nice fish that measured 19 inches but was not near as big as the first one. I am thinking 5 to 5 1/2 lbs so the other fish was likely 22/23 inches. Ended the day with 23 for me and best five 15 to 17 lbs. My partner lost a lot of fish and only boated six with nothing over two pounds. Great day though. And I have been saying, like many others, where are all the big fish this year? Well they are there. Like me, you just have to get lucky!!

Water was 72 in the AM and almost 76 in the PM. I am not a computer guy and can't send pics on this board but I can e-mail pics. I will send them to steelhead to see if he can handle it for me.

Thanks for the report. That's a great day on the Delta for sure! I believe an average 23 iinch bass would go about 7lbs. A really fat one could be more or a skinny bass could be a little less. The bass I've seen on the Delta recently have all been well fed.

It's been about two months since I caught a big fish on the delta.

What did you catch them on? You don't have to be too specific, but if you could say if you caught them on crankbaits, senkos, or jigs....etc?

Only thing is, 3-4 mins. out of the water is a long time for the fish. Some of us can't even hold our breath for 1-2 minutes. My advice is to settle her back in the water every now and then. Cool

Just to make sure that the fish won't struggle too much when you release her.

Other than that, I'm jealous man!!! Cheesy

At least you got out and caught some quality fish. I can't say I'll be out anytime soon! Grin

Every single fish I caught was on a Senko and they were not particular as to color. I did try blades several times but no takers. Senko's are my confidence bait but I usually try blades, spooks, frogs, and a few cranks. We fished all sorts of water, deep and shallow, tules, rocks, points of islands, etc. What was unusual for me was that probably 70 percent of my fish were on plain rock walls with scattered weeds, to include both of the bigger fish.
