Fishing Discovery Bay
Aug 25th, 2009 at 12:57pm

Headed up to Discovery Bay with work for 2.5 days, going to be fishing off of a dock for the most part.  Going to try topwater/buzzbait/spinnerbait/senkos/swimbaits for LMB first, but a co-worker swears by frozen anchovie/sardines for LMB/stripers/catfish around docks.  If I join him in using bait, should I just use a circle hook through the back of the sardine/anchovie and fish it weightless?

For L.M. bass get out the senko's and a 3-4 o/t Gamakatsu  EWG Worm Hook green pumkin is a good one out of many that will work, or any other lures you wish to use around docks ect..

As for the cut bait and circle hook sounds like a catfish/ stripper deal. Post up on the striper board for this type of info lots of bait fisherman over there that can help.

Circle hook is the way to go as it will basically hook itself into the fish when they take your bait. I think most of the guys use sliding sinkers...Bass Jack says you really only need like 1/2-1 oz weights.

I would hook it to a 3way swivel becaus of the low current speed in Disco bay. Make sure you got hooks on your TW baits and throw them first thing in the morning just as the sun is riasing. Sinkos are the best around there for LMB and BB repalas as well. Good luck and tight lines Oh yeah dont forget the camra we like pics
