Well here's the story.
I have never been to stampede before, so I contacted Bilge Rat and he suggested that I PM Zhand for some information as he was the guru of Stampede.
So I send Zhand a PM asking him a couple questions regarding fishing Stampede and he was nice enough to give me some tips on were to fish.
Then the bad news it was suppose to be a red flag day and he cancelled his trip due to weather.
What a dilemma for me as I live on the coast side in Half Moon Bay and My son was at a wrestling camp at Squaw Valley and I had to pick him up today I thought it would be a perfect time to throw in a fishing trip. What to do. Bad weather and a trip to Tahoe.
Well around 830 PM I decided to hook up the boat and head to stampede. what the heck if it blew to hard I wouldn't launch and if it was fishable well I think you know the answer.
I arrived at Stampede Around 1 AM so I found a turn out on the road hopped into the back of my truck in a sleeping bag and tried to sleep a few hours. Well my alarm went off at 515 so up I get and head over to the lake and launch ramp. What no dock at the ramp!. Well I set up the boat and launch my boat and then have to beach it on a rock strewed beach.
Well all I can say it turned out to be a great day I headed over to the island (thanks Zhand) and put the gear in.

Had my first fish a 7 inch Koke. ( After flaming gorge it hard catching small fish)

All fish were C&R except 1 a bleeder. Any way fishing was steady every 10-15 minutes I would hook a fish. Bad news son called told me he was ready to be picked up around 1100 am so had to end my trip at 930. Total 7 fish hooked 6 to the boat

Hot set up ( my favorite a firefiger Kokanee killer with a RMT Bahama mama Dodger,4 fish

Second setup system 3 Mega Darth dodger and a darth raider spinner 3 fish (Thanks Bilge Rat) both smothered in Kokanee Special sent

I cant say enough about the people I have met or talked to and the help everybody has given my

Today was my first day fishing Stampede and targeting kokes, can proudly say I'm no longer a koke virgin. 3 hookups and 1 in the boat. Wind was something else that's for sure, all bites on a Sepps chartruse dodger with a glow in the dark hoochie with white corn and krill oil at 48 feet. 1 dink rainbow on a set of flashers with night crawler. All at the island..

Glad you got out WS and glad the info helped. Off at 11 is about normal for Stampede so I'd say you had a good day.

In my little boat ...I Hate Wind..... So No fishing today. Tues I stayed to long and boy Shocked
