Bucks Lake Info
Aug 4th, 2009 at 9:44am

Wow from Big Kahunna to baby hooker. Anyway I am planning a trout fishing trip to Bucks lake just after the labor day weekend (hoping it will be calm and quiet there at that time) and I have never been there before. I've heard that the place is gorgeous and the fishing is great. So any information you can give would be appreciated - like where to camp, ok to bring my labs, trolling techniques and tackle/lures etc. Thanks

We have been going to bucks and lower bucks every year for over 20 years!
It has spoiled us as especially lower has the most awesome camping spots we have ever had.
At lower fish near the mouth as you come in, or fish by the dam where the big pipe spills out for nice browns.
Upper still eludes us somewhat but,
We have had great success at the honey hole just past Mill creek camp ground. Especially in the am or just before dark.
We used power eggs.
As for trolling we used rooster tails and a cripplure. Spoons and the kitchen sink for 11 in three days of camping.
All small though.
This is a gorgeous set of lakes....Trust me. Cheesy

Always caught a lot of fish there, but for the most part they are pretty small. Did get a "5 slam" there one day 3 or 4 years ago. A small Mac, a rainbow, a brook, a brown and a koke. A day to remember.

Absolutely beautiful place and not very crowded. All the "normal" stuff works but when all else fails the old standby, 1/2 a crawler threaded behind a dodger works great.

Can speak for the camping, I've always stayed in the cabins.....

Good luck and let us know how you do

The Mill Creek campground has some gorgeous spots on the water if they are available.  I've even seen some anchor their boats up there.  If you are considering Lakers, try StingKings.
