Eagle Lake boat ramp

Anyone have an update on the Spaulding boat ramp at Eagle?
They were supposed to dredge it this week. Just wondering if they got around to it.

Greetings, this is my first post on this new site.  I was  wentfishin on the sniffer.

I talked to the Water Recourses Board this afternoon.  They said there will be no dredging this year, end of discussion.  This was the same thing the Bureau of Land Management told me Wednesday.  They said the people who are continuing to say they are going to dredge are the ones that make a living off the lake, ie – guides, real estate people and campground owners.

The info below is from two different sources.

Project Eagle Lake Trout – update

Department of Fish and Game delivered the first load of “bonus” fish, 2,050 lbs., to Eagle Lake’s Rocky Point on Wednesday May 20, 2009. On Thursday, May 21, the balance, 3,500 lbs., were planted.  Paul Divine, DFG Biologist, chose Rocky Point as the plant site this year to provide security for the new fish – the pelicans were nowhere to be seen and the shoreline was better than a cement launch.  The fish were healthy and active and swam away;  any that hesitated, were urged on by onlookers.  DFG’s Jim Hooten handled the plants and managed to get the truck stuck into the soft shoreline, until volunteers moved rocks to fix the problem.

On Thursday, May 21, a meeting with Department of Boating and Waterways, Steve Maritano and two  engineers, was held at the Spalding Launch Ramp.  Attendees included guides Tim Noxon, Larry Frack, Gwen and Ron Beck, Cliff and Shirley Spediacci, RV Park owner Mike Arnold, Merle Lay, Spalding Community District, DFG Biologist Paul Divine, District 1, Senior Biologist Randy Bentin, plus many concerned residents of Spalding.  The purpose was to evaluate the launch facility because water levels are down at the lake.  Dredging out a high spot off the launch ramp would greatly assist anglers as they continue to launch during the rest of the year.

At the local Lassen County Fish and Game Commission meeting later that evening, a request was made that the Commission submit a letter to Dept. of Boating and Waterways supporting PELT’s efforts in the launch ramp/dredging efforts.  They agreed to do this.  Also, petitions requesting the dredging began circulating the next day.

Eagle Lake Fishing and Outdoors Report for July 24, 2009
Editorial by Val Aubrey, Eagle Lake Fishing Information and Network

It doesn’t appear that the Spalding ramp will be dredged out as originally planned.  It does appear that Lahontan is holding out on “one piece of paperwork” says Virginia at SCSD, a before Spalding CSD can send the package out for bid, we are waiting for a call back from Merle Lay SCSD secretary (but it won’t happen by press time) for more details and when we have more details we will post it on our Ramp Conditions page on Eagle Lake Fishing dot Net.)

JJ, while the information of the events that took place, i.e. the stocking of the lake and the assessing of the ramp situation is useful information. I don't think that the copied articles provide the same and they are about the local politics, I belive it is in the best interest of these boards that they are removed.
Thanks.

I just hope I don't need a long pole to put my boat past the breakwater at Gallitin marina/launch in a couple of weeks. Might have my brother-in-law take a look for me, guess that is the only answer (he lives in Susanville).......Jetspray
